Happy Holidays

Yeah, I'm really not sure how long this blog will survive if I don't post in eons. It's been a long couple of months for me. I've been exceptionally busy with stuff at work (surprise, suprise). I was sent to an FBI school late last month and now I'm trained as a hostage negotiator. That's always a reassuring feeling isn't it? Someone like me to talk someone down from the ledge. Anyhow who actually knows me will get how funny that is.

On a very sad note, I had to say goodbye to my faithful friend Jake at the end of November. The big guy who was with me for over 10 years had some serious health issues onset very quickly and I had to make the decision that everyone dreads. I haven't gotten another dog just yet, and I'm not sure how much of a hurry I'm in to get another one. I miss him a lot and it does seem very odd for me not to have a dog anymore, but his replacement (can there ever really be one?) will have some pretty big paws to fill. Jake was the best and I'll love him always. Thanks to those (especially Lisa) who sent e-mail thoughts (I even got a number of cards in the mail). I really appreciated it.

Switching gears, I survived my 35th birthday. It came two days after I lost Jake, so I tried to celebrate as best I could, but I was still a bit mopey. Went to the Improv and saw a comedy show featuring comedian Bob Marley. That guy is hilarious. I met him after the show, he autographed my CD and was a very cool guy. The following night I went to see the Caps punish the Sabres. I was in Clyde's before the game getting food and drink and was more or less surrounded by obnoxious Buffalo fans. I'm so glad that they lost - those motherfuckers were noticeably silent during the post-game walk down 7th St. The Capitals seem to be playing pretty well this year (not always that consistent, but at least we're in playoff contention). I hope to get out to some games again really soon. Always a good time. (except when I went to the game against Toronto after Thanksgiving and they got stomped 7-1 - that wasn't such a good time).

So Christmas is tomorrow. As of 5PM today I'll be off until after the New Year. I took a couple days off from work. I'm feeling burned out and I really need the time to recharge the batteries. I enjoy what I do, but sometimes (like recently) it just sucks the energy right out of you. I'll be spending the holiday at my brother's house. They are hosting the Christmas festivities this year. I got my nephew a Capitals jersey and other assorted toys. Toys for my niece as well. Uncle Pat is good like that.

Anyhow, to any readers I may still have left, a very happy holiday season to all of you and best wishes for a great 2007.

Ho, Ho, Ho......
